The Post Growth Institute is an international, not-for-profit organization seeking the innate and intentional circulation of money, power and resources in our local communities and global economy.
Inspired by the wisdom of natural systems and Indigenous ways of knowing and being, the Post Growth Institute (PGI) emerged in 2010 from a collective recognition of the social and ecological limits to growth and the shortcomings of ‘green growth’ narratives. We embrace a decolonial vision of a restorative, post-capitalist system—one that is not dependent on perpetual economic growth.
The relentless accumulation of money, power, and resources inherent to capitalism, inevitably, and unequally, creates economic distress, social division, and environmental degradation. But what if there are other ways?
Having brought the term ‘post-growth’ to the wider world, the PGI uplifts, co-designs, and models emerging futures in solidarity with allies and dreamers worldwide.
